Southwest Airlines Quadruples Promotion Goal with Bracket Contest

Southwest Airlines nearly quadrupled its promotion goal of obtaining 5,000 new "Click N' Save" email subscribers. "Click N' Save" is Southwest Airlines' email tool that is used to communicate weekly special SCA Promotions Southwest Airlines Promotionoffers. SCA's team was recruited to build an online college bracket contest for the Men's March College Basketball Tournament.

The "Southwest Airlines Bracket Challenge" offered participants the chance to win one year of travel (valued at $21,500) if they completed the challenge with the highest scoring total. Other great prizes, including round-trip tickets and airline gift cards, were awarded based on random drawings each game day and on contestants' scoring totals at the end of each round.

Southwest Airlines had a total of 25,000 participants and 19,000 new "Click N' Save" subscribers.

The Bracket Challenge was effectively promoted via Southwest's Twitter account, with 1.2 Million followers, and its Facebook page, with 750,000 Fans. These two social media sites made it easy for participants to register and submit their picks.

La Quinta Awards Family with All-Expenses-Paid Trip to Movie Premiere

Customers Earned Sweepstakes Entries by Staying at La Quinta

Dallas, TX - Seeking to give their hotel chain something new and fresh to merchandise to customers, La Quinta rolled out the "Walk the Red Carpet Premiere Experience" sweepstakes. By partnering with Touchstone Pictures and the new Miley Cyrus movie, "The Last Song," customers were offered the chance of a lifetime to attend the red carpet premiere of the film in Los Angeles.

"The Last Song" gave us a wonderful, premium brand to partner with, as well as a well-known star who has great appeal and high buzz value," said a La Quinta representative.

"We wanted to create a level of buzz and La Quinta 
and SCA Promotionsengagement around the sweepstakes, so we promoted the contest in our own communication channels: at property, on our Web site, via weekly emails to guests, and through our social media platforms. Touchstone also featured our participation on their movie Web site and on select Disney radio stations."

To enter, customers simply had to complete a night's stay at La Quinta and they were automatically entered. Multiple stays resulted in more entries. Secondary prizes, such as branded La Quinta items and vouchers for free stays, were awarded along with the grand prize of the all-expenses-paid trip to see the movie premiere and visit Disneyland.

La Quinta was thrilled to award the Ortega family of California with the grand prize trip. They had been saving for a trip to Disneyland and were in disbelief when they won.

"My son had saved all his money for eight months and recycled every week, but he still did not have enough to go to Disneyland," said Mrs. Ortega. "When we won the La Quinta sweepstakes, we were sent to Disneyland and the premiere night of "Last Song" and all expenses were paid! We will never stay anywhere else again!"SCA Promotions La Quinta

SCA helped La Quinta with all aspects of the sweepstakes, such as collecting entries, administering winner selection and notification, legal administration, and prize fulfillment.

AT&T Brings Thousands of Consumers In Their Stores with Direct Mail Promotion

With players in the wireless telecommunications industry waging war by frequently releasing new products and staying on the cutting edge of technology, building a base of loyal customers is a challenge that companies like AT&T cannot overlook. AT&T understands the importance of bringing customers into its stores, so with the help of its agency, they developed a regional direct mail promotion to drive traffic. The "Explore, Experience and Win Online Game" offered contestants a chance to win one of several prizes, SCA Promotions AT&T 
Promotionranging from AT&T products to one of three grand prize packages, to a $100,000 bonus prize.

AT&T mailed residents in the participating areas a game piece with a prize panel that, when scratched off, revealed a prize code and a bonus code. Contestants took their game pieces to local AT&T retail stores and checked their prize code on a computer to see if they had won. To add excitement, AT&T offered contestants who didn't win a second chance at a bonus prize worth $100,000 by entering their bonus code into the computer.

SCA facilitated the promotion by developing the "Explore, Experience and Win" Web site, covering the promotional risk for the $100,000 bonus prize, and providing a secure, random method of distributing all the prizes. AT&T experienced all the benefits from this promotion without any risk to their bottom line. In just over a month, over 2,000 customers visited AT&T retail stores in the participating region.

 

Important Notes Regarding Sweepstakes:

Legally, we cannot require a customer to make a purchase before receiving a game card/a Pin Number and the chance to win.  This would qualify the promotion as a lottery and is not legal as a sweepstakes format.

That being said, the most common method around this stipulation is to require any customer not making a purchase to mail a self addressed stamped envelope to a designated promotion address in order to receive their free game card.

This method is used in 95% of retail promotions, and as the promotional support group, USADIs Legally Authorized Administrators receive and expedite all of these requests on behalf of all the Participating Merchants.

Official Rules for this type of Sweepstakes Promotion:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE OR WIN A PRIZE

1. HOW IT WORKS: From July 15, 2010 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") through July 15, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. ET or until the Grand Prize specified below is validly won (the "Promotion Period"), participating Local Area Merchants ( See List of participating merchants ......) ("Co - Sponsors" with USADI) shall distribute Game Cards ( in what ever form chosen )  with a unique personal identification number ("PIN") to customers which may be entered on Sponsor's promotion website as described below for a chance to win the Grand Prize defined in paragraph 5 below.

2. ELIGIBILITY: Open to legal U.S. residents of the states of ( TBD for each Local Area ) and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older at time of entry. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited by law.

Employees of Sponsor, its parents, affiliates and subsidiaries, participating advertising and promotion agencies and prize suppliers (and members of their immediate family and/or those living in the same of household of each) are not eligible.

3. HOW TO PLAY: During the Promotion Period an eligible contestant may receive a PIN ("PIN") pursuant to paragraph 1 above. The contestant may then visit Sponsor's Promotion website designated on the Game Card and enter his/her email address and PIN as directed. The contestant will then be prompted to enter the requested registration information, and upon pressing "Submit", the contestant will instantly receive a message ("Screen Shot") notifying the contestant whether or not he/she is a winner, and if said contestant is a potential winner, the Screen Shot shall also specify which prize has been potentially won. Each unique PIN is eligible for only one (1) play attempt and may not be entered more than one (1) time. Limit of one (1) play per person per day. If a winning message (i.e., Screen Shot stating that the contestant is a winner) is received in response to entering the unique PIN as directed herein, said contestant is a potential winner of one of the prizes specified in paragraph 5 below, subject to contestant eligibility. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the winning contestant at the e-mail address provided by contestant during the log in process. All potential winners are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the Promotion rules before any prize will be awarded. All taxes on any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.

4. ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF ENTRY: To receive a Game Piece without visiting a Participating Local Area Merchant, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to: USADI Local Area Sweepstakes PIN Request, 8300 Douglas Ave, Suite 690, Dallas TX 75225 postmarked by July 5, 2011 and received by July 15, 2011. Residents of (>>>>>>>) may omit return postage. Limit one (1) request per person per day. No copies, facsimiles or mechanical reproductions will be accepted. Limit one request per outer mailing envelope. Cards will be available while supplies last.

5. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: If due to printing, production or other errors, more prizes are claimed than intended, the intended prize will be awarded in a random drawing from all those submitting purportedly valid claims. No more than the number of prizes set forth in these Official Rules will be awarded. PINs not legitimately obtained and/or not used in accordance with these rules are void. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. ALL POTENTIAL WINNING PLAYS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY SPONSOR, WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING. A "SCREEN SHOT" IS NOT PROOF OR EVIDENCE OF A WINNING GAME PLAY AND/OR PRIZE. A CONTESTANT IS NOT A WINNER OF ANY PRIZE, EVEN IF THE INSTANT WIN GAME SHOULD SO INDICATE, UNLESS AND UNTIL SAID CONTESTANT'S ELIGIBILITY AND THE POTENTIAL WINNING PLAY HAS BEEN VERIFIED AND SAID CONTESTANT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT VERIFICATION IS COMPLETE. SPONSOR WILL NOT ACCEPT SCREEN SHOTS OR OTHER EVIDENCE OF WINNING IN LIEU OF ITS VALIDATION PROCESS. ANY PLAY THAT OCCURS AFTER THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED FOR ANY REASON IS DEEMED A DEFECTIVE PLAY AND IS VOID AND WILL NOT BE HONORED. No transfer, assignment or substitution of a prize will be permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize for an item of equal or greater value in the event an advertised prize is unavailable. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Contestants agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Promotion. Confirmation e-mails returned as undeliverable may result in disqualification. As a condition of prize receipt, winners will be required to execute liability and, unless otherwise prohibited by law, publicity releases. Failure to execute these releases may result in forfeiture of any prize. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsor and its agencies to use winner's name and/or likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. By accepting prize, winners agree to hold Sponsor, its directors, officers, employees, assigns, and advertising and promotional agencies harmless for any injury or damage caused or claimed to be caused by participation in the Promotion. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Promotion or in the announcement of the prize. Sponsor is not responsible for lost or stolen PINs. Sponsor cannot guarantee U.S. Postal Delivery of pins, damaged pins or pins being received after contest dates. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded.

6. PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES: One (1) and only one Grand Prize of $50,000 is available to be won. The Grand Prize is payable in 20 equal annual installments of $2,500 without interest. ARV $xxxx.xx. Odds of winning the Grand Prize are 1:x,xxx,xxx.

7. INDEMNIFICATION: By participating, contestants agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor, its officers, directors, employees, representatives, agents, advertising and promotional agencies from and against any claims made by winners, entrants, or any other third parties, related in any way to the operation of this Promotion as well as any other claims, damages or liability due to any injuries, damages or losses to any person (including death) or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in any Promotion-related activity or participation in this Promotion.

8. INTERNET: In the event of a dispute as to any registration or play, the authorized owner of the email account associated with the PIN number entered will be deemed to be the registrant or player. Sponsor is not responsible for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or limitations of any kind, or inaccurate transmissions of or failure to receive information by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site or any combination thereof. If for any reason the promotion is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes, technological or otherwise, which corrupt, disrupt or otherwise affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Promotion, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend any and all aspects of the Promotion. Sponsor reserves the right, but not the obligation, to randomly select winners from eligible entries received as of the termination date. Sponsor further reserves the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process. Caution: Any attempt by any individual to deliberately damage any Web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such individual to the fullest extent of the law.

9. GOVERNING LAW; DISPUTES: Entrants agree that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas or the appropriate Texas State Court located in Dallas County, Texas; (ii) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Promotion but in no event attorneys' fees; and (iii) under no circumstances will a participant be permitted to obtain awards for and participant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. Except where prohibited by law, all issues concerning the construction, validity and enforcement of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor, shall be construed and governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflicts of law rules.
